Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella wanted to remain under general community quarantine (GCQ) after June 15 as the local government continued its efforts against the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
This, as Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella on Monday said that he’s not comfortable to ease their restrictions as the coronavirus disease was still present in the country.

In a report on Dobol B sa News TV, Labella hoped that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) would consider his suggestion.
Labella also said that the city government of Cebu had tested around 25,000 people since March 2020, wherein 10,000 of them underwent PCR-based testing while the remaining 15,000 underwent rapid testing.
He also said that around 3,000 people were tested positive as of June 14 wherein 90% were asymptomatic, adding that 1,700 were already recovered from the disease.
President Rodrigo Duterte was set to announce the latest directives on Monday with regards to the implementation of community quarantine measures in the Philippines after June 15, 2020.
As of June 14, 2020, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 539 new cases of coronavirus disease in the Philippines, wherein 366 out of 539 cases were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 173 were classified as “late” cases.
