BIR Extends Deadline For Filing Taxes To June 14

BIR extended the deadline for filing taxpayers’ income tax returns to June 14.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue extended the deadline for filing taxpayers’ income tax returns as the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in some areas in the Philippines continued until May 15, 2020.

Under Revenue Regulations 11-2020 of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, taxpayers can file and pay their 2019 income tax returns (ITRs) until June 14, which was far from its previous deadline of May 30.

Also, under Revenue Regulations 11-2020 of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, the tax amnesty on delinquencies also extended to June 22, 2020.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue on Friday said that it extended the deadline for filing taxpayers’ income tax returns, which was previously scheduled to May 30, following the extension of Luzon lockdown until May 15. Arnel Guballa, the deputy commissioner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, said that the deadline for value-added tax scheduled for the month of April, as well as other deadlines, were given a 30-day grace period.

The said announcement came after President Rodrigo Duterte issued Executive Order No. 112 dated May 1, 2020, which approved the extension of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila and other high-risk areas as well as the implementation of the general community quarantine (GCQ) in some parts of the Philippines.

As of 4:00 p.m. of May 2, the Department of Health reported 156 new cases of COVID-19, with 40 new recoveries and 24 new coronavirus deaths. This brought the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 8,928, with 1,124 total recoveries and 603 total fatalities.
