Google Launches Relief Fund To Aid Local News Amidst COVID-19

Google globally launched Journalism Emergency Relief Fund in order to aid small-to-medium-sized news companies for local communities amid COVID-19.

Google, through its News Initiative, globally launched Journalism Emergency Relief Fund in order to aid small-to-medium-sized news companies for local communities.

This, as the aim of the Journalism Emergency Relief Fund, through the Google News Initiative, was to aid the production of “original journalism” of small-to-medium-sized news companies for local communities amid COVID-19 pandemic by providing an “easily-accessible route to financial assistance”.

However, in order for small-to-medium-sized news companies to avail the said fund, they must first submit their online application form. Google already started accepting online application forms until April 29, 2020.
