Pampanga Records 1st Case of 2019 Coronavirus / COVID-19

Pampanga’s provincial government confirmed its first case of the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Philippines is one of the countries affected by the 2019 novel coronavirus or COVID-19. A total of five (5) individuals affected by the said virus died in the country during the treatment.

Currently, the government is implementing strict measures to curb the spread of the disease. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has recently spoken to the Filipino people in a televised national address.

The President declared the implementation of the “community quarantine” in the whole of Metro Manila. Most coronavirus patients in the country are confined in Metro Manila hospitals.

Several local government units confirmed their first cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus yesterday. One of them is Pampanga.

Based on an updated report on ABS-CBN News, the patient is a ride-hailing transport service driver with no travel history abroad. The wife of the 33-year-old driver expressed that he would usually take routes of Clark Freeport and other towns in the province.

Furthermore, his family expressed that had a history of tuberculosis and hypertension. Based on the report, the wife of the patient sought the help of the provincial government after he showed symptoms of COVID-19.

Currently, the 33-year-old driver is confined in a hospital in Manila. Two (2) persons who had a close contact with the patient are now monitored.
