Bill Gates officially left Microsoft’s Board of Directors, as announced by Microsoft.
Microsoft officially announced that co-founder Bill Gates has left Microsoft’s Board of Directors in order to devote more of his time to philanthropy.
This, as Satya Nadella, the chief executive of Microsoft and a company veteran, said in a release that it was been “a tremendous honor and privilege to have worked with and learned from Bill over the years” as Bill Gates founded Microsoft with a belief in the “democratizing force of software and a passion to solve society’s most pressing challenges.”
Nadella added that Microsoft will continue to benefit Bill’s “technical passion and advice” in his continuing role as a technical advisor.
Bill Gates’ decision came as he was turning his attention to the foundation he launched together with his wife, Melinda. According to the Redmond-based technology giant, Bill Gates, one of the richest tycoons in the world, served as a chairman of Microsoft’s board of directors until early in 2014 and now stepped away entirely.
