Here’s what happened to Diether Ocampo during his showbiz hiatus
Actor Diether Ocampo, who is one of the popular leading men, found his passion in another field during his showbiz hiatus.
Prior to his acting career, Diether was first a dancer. Then, in the mid-1990s, ABS-CBN discovered him. He became part of the Star Circle Batch II. His first movie was the Ang TV which was an adaptation of youth-oriented show in the Kapamilya network.
Among his remarkable performances on the big screen are in the movies Soltera, La Vida Rosa, and Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin. Throughout his showbiz career, Diether did quite a number of TV shows, appearances, and movies. In 2016, he did a teleserye on TV5 titled Bakit Manipis Ang Ulap?
In 2004, he got married to Kristine Hermosa, who is also his former love team partner. However, their marriage was annulled in 2009. The actress is now married to Oyo Boy Sotto.
In 2017, he took his hiatus and is now a freelancer. In 2018, he joined the defunct TV series of Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano titled Bagani. During his hiatus, he trained at the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA). Diether Ocampo is now a lieutenant commander.
He also completed the seafarer’s training conducted by the Philippine Center for Advanced Maritime Simulation and Training (Philcamsat). During an interview, he shared the reason why decided to become a seafarer. “Masarap na maging bahagi ng isang industriya na naging malaki ang kontribusyon hindi lang sa Pilipinas kundi sa buong mundo,” the actor said.
Diether is currently doing a series on iWant titled Sunday Night Fever with daring actress Nathalie Hart.
