Nike Temporarily Closes European Headquarters Due To COVID-19

Nike temporarily closed its European headquarters due to COVID-19.

Nike temporarily closed its European headquarters in the Netherlands on Monday (March 2, 2020) and Tuesday (March 3, 2020).

This, after an employee of Nike was infected with the 2019 novel coronavirus, now named COVID-19. As reported by a Dutch news agency ANP, citing an internal email, Nike’s headquarters in Hilversum would be disinfected, thus, Nike’s employee was staying home in isolation for 14 days.

A security guard at the said headquarters told Reuters that the said area was “on lockdown”. A representative from Nike has yet to release a statement following the temporary closure of its European headquarters in the Netherlands.

Roughly 2,000 Nike employees from 80 countries work at the said headquarters. Since February 28, Dutch health authorities have reported 10 confirmed infections of the 2019 novel coronavirus, now named COVID-19.
