Meralco was holding off the conduct of meter reading and delivery of bills to households.
Manila Electric Company (Meralco) on Friday announced that it was holding off the conduct of meter reading and delivery of bills to households.
This, as the Philippine government implemented a Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine in order to contain the spread of coronavirus disease or COVID-19.
In a statement, Meralco said:
“Due to the enhanced community quarantine, Meralco is holding off on physical meter reading and billing deliveries. For customers with meters scheduled to be read from March 17 to April 14, billing will be estimated based on your average consumption for the past three months, as prescribed by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC). The difference will be reflected on your next bill and corresponding charges will be adjusted.”
Earlier, Meralco announced a 30-day payment extension for its subscribers. The company said that the bills covered by the said extension include those due from March 1 to April 14, 2020.
