Italy Holds Highest Coronavirus Death Toll Now

ITALY – The coronavirus death toll in the country now is almost double of the total number of deaths in China due to COVID-19.

Two (2) of the countries that were severely hit by the 2019 novel coronavirus or COVID-19 are Italy and China. The latter is where the virus was first recorded.

In China, over 80,000 were infected by the novel coronavirus. It was first detected in the city of Wuhan in Hubei province. Several medical staff from other cities were sent to Wuhan to treat the patients.

Currently, Italy is under a total lockdown. Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte initially put Lombardy, the epicenter of COVID-19 in the country, and 14 provinces in a partial lockdown but the cases continued to increase.
