Overwatch Matches Moved From China To South Korea Amid COVID-19

The Overwatch League was relocating scheduled esports games from China to Seoul in South Korea due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

This, as the Overwatch League (OWL) rescheduled esports matches that were set in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou in China for the month of February and March, announcing that those esports games will be played at a studio in Seoul, South Korea in mid-March.

In a statement, the league said that it made the decision “in order to protect the health and safety of our fans, players, and staff.”

This was the first year for the league’s unparalleled global schedule including host matches for its city-based franchises in Europe, Asia, and North America. The Overwatch League previously opened its third season with matches from Dallas and New York.
