First Coronavirus Case in Africa Confirmed in Egypt
FIRST CORONAVIRUS CASE IN AFRICA – Egypt recently recorded the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Africa.
The fight against the spread of the novel coronavirus or recently given an official name of COVID-19 continues. China still has thousands of people being treated for coronavirus infection.
More than 60,000 people were infected in China and at least 1,000 died due to the novel coronavirus. It was first recorded in Wuhan City and, allegedly, the bat soup served in the market in the city has something to do with its outbreak.
Wuhan City was placed under a lock-down until now. Several other countries also got confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus.
The Philippines, the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, France, and Sri Lanka are among those with confirmed cases of the disease. Some of these nations have already implemented a travel ban for travellers from China to curb the spread of the disease.
The said disease got the symptoms that are flu-like – fever, cough, and breathing difficulty to name the most common signs. As of this writing, no cure for coronavirus has yet to be discovered.
Recently, another country confirmed a case of the novel coronavirus. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the first coronavirus case in Africa was recently recorded in Egypt.
In a statement, the health ministry in Egypt did not specify the nationality of the patient but clarified that the patient is not an Egyptian. According to Egypt health ministry spokesperson Khaled Megahed, the patient is in a “stable” condition and is being monitored.
Also, based on the report, the World Health Organization (WHO) was already informed about the case. The patient is now confined in a hospital and is being isolated.
In the Philippines, first confirmed case of coronavirus has already recovered and has been released from the hospital. The second patient died while being treated at San Lazaro Hospital while the third patient was released due to initial conflicting results. The patient has returned to China.
