Other local media also reported the new confirmed cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus, yet the health ministry officials in Japan declined to comment.

In a tweet, the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that newly diagnosed cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus should not extend the length of the quarantine as the quarantine period of the Diamond Princess cruise ship “will come to an end on February 19.”

The World Health Organization added that the quarantine period will be extended beyond February 19 “as appropriate only for close contacts of newly confirmed cases”, thus, people on board the cruise ship “need to remain in quarantine for 14 days from the last contact with a confirmed case.”
