Latest Feature of Instagram Now Hides ‘Fake’ Photos

In order to fight against misinformation and fake news, Instagram officially launched its new feature that flags “fake” photos.

Petapixel reported that this feature may affect digital creators and photographers, “making it harder to share and view certain types of photography.”

In a Facebook post from Toby Harriman, he shared his experience with Instagram’s latest feature. He admitted that its feature was “interesting seeing this pop up for the first time” while he was scrolling its main feed.

Before the said photo showed up, there was a notice that the photo was reviewed by independent fact-checkers.

Based on the comments in an Instagram post, the said feature could detect “fake” photos in order to misinformation and fake news. According to them, the said photo was either “digitally manipulated” or “grabbed from an original photo without giving proper credits,” reason for the fact-checkers to flag the said photo as “false.”

In addition, this feature may only be available in some places in the world.
