Converge To Spend $600M To Reach Out To More Underserved Areas

Fiber internet firm Converge ICT Solutions aimed to double its revenue in 2020 by reaching out to more underserved areas.

According to Converge founder and president Dennis Anthony Uy, the capital spending of the company will hit about $600 million (equivalent to PHP 30,420,000,000). He added that the target of the company was to double its customers to one million subscribers next year.

Uy also said that the company will also be present in Visayas and Mindanao. He added that Converge was also preparing for new applications with its gradual shift to 5G, which was the next-generation mobile standard.

Converge ICT was building infrastructures along with partners KT Corp. of South Korea and LSI-Fibernet Konstruk Corp., a Filipino-Korean venture.

According to Dennis Anthony Uy, the Luzon backbone will complete in early 2020. He added that the company’s plan may include a domestic cable that will link the Philippines’ main islands through its 20 landing stations.

He also said that Converge ICT also had a conversation with international submarine cable companies.
