A certain post caught the attention of the netizens when she posted a photo of Patricia’s PWD ID in her social media account.
According to a concerned citizen, her sister, Patricia, received her PWD ID from the city government of Guihulngan. When she saw Patricia’s ID, a concerned citizen found out that Patricia’s type of disability was typed as “Mongoloid”.
She said that her sister has Down Syndrome, yet the word that appeared on her PWD ID “has been medically obsolete”. She added that the personnel from the city government of Guihulngan who was responsible for releasing PWD IDs must check its records if Mongoloid was a type of disability.
Netizens expressed their reactions to Patricia’s ID.
The said post was taken down because her family didn’t want to spread the issue like this as this would affect many individuals. the city government already took actions to the person who made this honest mistake and the city government promised to be more sensitive and careful next time.
