Pres. Duterte Ready to Meet Successor in Malacañang
DUTERTE – Outgoing Philippine Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte arrived in Malacañang for the last time as president of the country.
Today, the term of the new administration will start as president-elect Bongbong Marcos is set to take his oath as the 17th president of the Republic of the Philippines. His inauguration will be held at the Philippine National Museum in Manila.
Several government offices canceled work in Manila to pave the way for the inauguration of the new president. There were road closures and rerouting in line with the event.
Today, outgoing Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte will also meet his successor, president-elect Bongbong Marcos, in Malacañang. They are set to talk before his inauguration at the National Museum.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte arrived in Malacañang for the last time as president of the country. He was aboard a black vehicle when he arrived at the Palace and was escorted by some of the staff.
The outgoing President was the oldest to have been elected for the presidency. In 2016, he was 71 years old when he secured the top spot following a landslide victory in the election.
The outgoing administration is known for its strong mandate in the war against illegal drugs and corruption. The admin also prioritized the “Build, Build, Build” project. The outgoing President is vocal about his hope that the next admin will continue some of his programs, especially the war against drugs.
