SSS Wage Subsidy Applications Extended Until May 8

Wage subsidy applications of SSS is available until next month

The Social Security System (SSS) announced that small businesses can still have their wage subsidy applications until May 8.

This is due to the problem that the official website of SSS has been encountering since Friday last week. Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) can now apply for wage subsidies until next month, as announced by the Department of Finance 9DOF). Initially, April 30 was set as the cut-off date.

Last April 16, applications for the P5,000-P8,000 per month wage subsidy started. This was conducted with the aim to give financial aid to 3.4 million individuals employed by MSMEs amid the health crisis in the Philippines.

“Eligible employers may use one of two methods to apply for the program on behalf of their employees: first, for SBWS-eligible employers whose e-mail addresses are on file with the SSS, kindly check your e-mails for instructions on the application via a secure link,” the DOF said, based on the report from Inquirer Business.

The statement from the Finance department also reminded SBWS-eligible employers who did not receive an e-mail. They may proceed with the processing via your My.SSS account.

DOF also said that they will soon give an update to employers who need to create a My.SSS account or update their bank accounts, PayMaya accounts, or mobile numbers on My.SSS as soon as the service is back online.

“We are working on getting all other services relative to employer and employee membership, contributions, benefit and loan applications and payments back online as soon as possible as well,” the Finance department said.

Based on the report, SSS has already announced its calamity loan assistance program. This aims to give assistance to members amid the COVID-19 outbreak. Members can apply through the SSS website or their My.SSS account. However, since their system is down, this program did not start yet.
