Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos Makes Suggestion over “No Vaxx, No Ride” Policy
BONGBONG MARCOS – The former Senator and Presidential Aspirant revealed his stand on the “No Vaxx, No Ride” policy.
Following the rise in the COVID-19 cases in several cities in the capital region after the holiday season, the Philippine national government placed the whole Metro Manila under Alert Level 3. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) also pushed for the “No Vaxx, No Ride” policy.
DOTr has set exemptions regarding the said policy requiring the presentation of vaccination cards for a public ride. Among those who are exempted are the essential workers and those whose health conditions do not permit them to get the vaccines provided that they have medical proof.
The said “No Vaxx, No Ride” policy gained different reactions from the people and some local government units (LGUs). There are those who are in favor of it while there are also those who see it as a discriminatory move.
Currently, the “No Vaxx, No Ride” policy of the DOTr is in its warning phase. The Department previously said that strict implementation may be expected in the coming weeks.
Recently, presidential aspirant and former Sen. Bongbong Marcos Jr. revealed his side on the policy of the DOTr. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the former Senator agrees with the “No Vaxx, No Ride” policy but recognized the problem in its implementation.
According to Marcos Jr., the government cannot force the people to get vaccinated but those who refuse the vaccine must take the risk. However, the implementation of the policy is a struggle on the bus staff and the police due to the documents they have to check from the passengers.
The Presidential Aspirant suggests that there will be separate public transportation for the unvaccinated individuals from the vaccinated ones.
