Lakas-CMD adopted Bongbong Marcos as its presidential candidate in the 2022 elections.
LAKAS-CMD — On Wednesday, the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats adopted a resolution declaring former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr as the party’s adopted candidate for president in the 2022 elections.
Also, the party’s Executive Committee (Execom) confirmed in another resolution that party chairperson Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte is its vice-presidential candidate.
The party resolutions made the Uniteam BBM-Sara its official candidates for the Philippines’ top posts in the 2022 elections.
Also, the party’s Execom passed a resolution authorizing party president House Majority Leader and Leyte 1st District Representative Martin G. Romualdez to enter into alliance agreements with other political parties.
Expected to be high on the list were the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) of Bongbong and the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) of Mayor Sara.
Lakas-CMD Deputy Secretary General and Zamboanga Sibugay Representative Wilter “Sharky” Wee Palma II read and moved for the adoption of three party resolutions during the Execom meeting presided by Romualdez and attended by Mayor Sara.
The three resolutions were signed by Mayor Sara, Romualdez, Lakas-CMD co-chairperson and Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr., and other Execom members.
“Resolved as it is hereby resolved, that Mayor Sara Zimmerman Duterte shall be the official candidate and standard bearer of Lakas-CMD for vice president in the 09 May 22 national and local elections,” Lakas-CMD Party Resolution No. 09 series of 2021 read.
The decision to adopt Bongbong Marcos as the party’s presidential candidate was contained in Party Resolution No. 10, Series of 2021.

The party pointed out that national unity was very important in order to propel the Philippines to economic recovery following the continued devastations of the pandemic.
It also noted that the authority to choose her presidential running mate was granted to Mayor Sara.
Also, the Lakas-CMD adopted Party Resolution No. 11, Series of 2021 allowing Romualdez to forge an alliance with other political parties in preparation for the 2022 elections.
The said resolution underscored the importance of building alliances with different political groups in order to strengthen the party’s political resources and assets aimed at enhancing the winning chances of Lakas-CMD candidates.
