Medical frontliner contracts coronavirus at least four times
DR. JENNIFER GASPAR – A medical frontliner from Cavite revealed in a lengthy post on Facebook that she tested positive for COVID-19, four times.
COVID-19 is characterized by flu-like symptoms such as fever, difficulty in breathing, cough, and other respiratory problems but a patient may also be positive for the disease even without showing any signs.
According to her, she first contracted the dreaded virus last April 2020. At the time, she suffered from diarrhea and dyspnea (shortness of breath). She was admitted to the hospital for two weeks.
It was in January this year when she acquired the virus for the second time. She was admitted again to the hospital after experiencing the difficulty of breathing and easy fatigability.
The third time was during May. She initially thought she was just having UTI after experiencing low back pain and headache.
But then, she developed chills, fever, body malaise, anosmia (loss of smell), and ageusia (loss of taste). She underwent a swab test and her result turned out to be positive. She was admitted again but after taking usual medications for COVID-19 patients, she recovered.
Shortly or one month after recovering from the dreaded virus, she received her first dose of vaccine against coronavirus. However, a few weeks before receiving her second dose, she tested positive anew for the fourth time.
Fortunately, the medical frontliner did not develop any symptoms. She was not admitted to a hospital and was eventually cured.
After her long battle with COVID-19, she’s finally back on duty and fully vaccinated. She also encouraged others to get vaccinated, “no matter what the brand is.”
