Singer and songwriter Jimmy Bondoc appointed to Pagcor board
JIMMY BONDOC – The singer, songwriter was appointed as a member of the board of directors of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor).
On Thursday, September 16, the gaming regulator said that the 46-year-old hitmaker was officially appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as one of the members of the board of directors last Sept. 10.
The OPM singer “will serve the unexpired term of office of the late Director Reynaldo E. Concordia that began on July 1, 2021 and will end on June 30, 2022.”
Jimmy Bondoc whose real name is James Patrick Romero Bondoc is set to take his oath of office at the Malacanang Palace by the end of September.
But on September 15, he was sworn into office by an official in Barangay Pinagkaisahan in Quezon City to assume the duties left by the late Pagcor director.
According to Jimmy Bondoc, who was previously the vice president for the Social Responsibility Group of Pagcor, his new position will help him provide support to the initiatives and current programs of the government-owned and controlled corporation.
He noted that his experiences as former chief of CSR Group “prepared him well for the responsibilities ahead as his previous post gave him deeper understanding of the agency’s core commitments to nation-building.”
Based on the report of Manila Bulletin, aside from being a CSR Group head, he served the Philippines’ largest contributor of revenue to the government in 2016-2017 as the Officer-in-Charge and Assistant Vice President of the agency’s Entertainment Department.
Presently, Jimmy Bondoc is a fourth-year law student at the University of the East in Manila.
Before he was given a position in the government, he made a name for himself in the music industry as singer and songwriter of hit singles such as Let Me Be The One and Hanggang Dito na Lang.
