Año on Roque outburst: “That is an unfortunate event na hindi dapat nangyari”
EDUARDO AÑO – The secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) apologized to health workers following the outburst of Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque during an IATF meeting.
In an interview with The Source, Año apologized to the health sector after Roque berate Dr. Maricar Limpin of the Philippine College of Physicians in the middle of the IATF meeting.
“For me personally, I want to apologize to the health sector. That is an unfortunate event na hindi dapat nangyari,” he said.
According to Año, the presidential spokesperson somehow has point but the problem is the manner his message was delivered.
He added to keep oneself cool, be open to all ideas, and be professional.
On the other hand, Año said they will tighten security to prevent video leaks at virtual meetings of government agencies.
Meanwhile, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said on Monday, September 13 that the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has discussed the possibility of filing a case against the person who leaked the footage from one of its meetings.
Roque believed that the person responsible for leaking footage of his outburst can be liable for violating the Data Privacy Act.
The said footage was first posted on Twitter by Philippine Daily Inquirer reporter Marlon Ramos.
The Palace official initially said that the proceedings in IATF meetings were supposed to be secret so as to allow for an honest debate among the members.
Roque is in New York for his nomination to be a member of the International Law Commission (ILC), an advisory body to the United Nations (UN).
