DJ Loonyo: “Di na talaga natapos yung page na to kakagawa ng FAKE NEWS.”
DJ LOONYO – The dancer/choreographer-turned-internet sensation reacted to his fake statement about Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz.
Diaz made history as the first-ever Filipino to bag a gold medal in the Olympics in the recently concluded women’s 55-kg weightlifting event.
The country’s pride finished with a total score of 224 kg defeating China’s Liao Qiuyun.
The 30-year-old weightlifter from Zamboanga ended the near century-long Olympic gold medal drought of the country since it competed in 1924.
While Filipinos around the world are celebrating, a Facebook page with the account name “Bakkler” released a quote card containing DJ Loonyo’s alleged statement against the new Pinoy pride.
Instead of celebrating Hidilyn’s honor, he allegedly called the Olympic gold medalist a “toxic Filipino.”
The fake statement said: “CONGRATS HIDILYN PERO ISA KANG EXAMPLE NG TOXIC FILIPINO. PEOPLE NOWADAYS NGA NAMAN, MAS PIPILIIN ANG EASY MONEY KAYSA MAGTRABAHO NANG MARANGAL. YUNG IBA DYAN KAYOD-KALABAW TAPOS IKAW UMAASA LANG SA BIGAY?”
On his Official Facebook page, DJ Loonyo expressed his anger and frustration regarding the fake news.
He said: “Di na talaga natapos yung page na to kakagawa ng FAKE NEWS (FACT CHECK AND MAGBASA).”
He also warned netizens who immediately believed the said news.
Contrary to the false statement, he is said to be very proud of what Hidilyn has achieved in inspiring all Filipinos, especially athletes.
