The DOH reminded the public to self-isolate if they’re experiencing flu-like symptoms amidst COVID-19 threat.
On Saturday, the Department of Health (DOH) reminded the public to immediately self-isolate if they’re experiencing flu-like symptoms amidst COVID-19 threat.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a televised briefing that influenza (flu) and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) almost have similar signs and symptoms.
Vergeire then reminded the public to immediately self-isolate themselves if they have flu-like symptoms such as body pain, fever, sore throat, and mucus.
“Marami po ngayon ang nagkakaroon ng trangkaso na dulot ng panahon na meron tayo ngayon. It is the season para magkaroon ng ganitong flu. Kailangan ating isipin na very similar ang signs and symptoms ng flu sa COVID-19. Pananakit ng katawan, lagnat, masakit ang lalamunan, sinisipon. Kapag nagkaroon ng ganitong sintomas, agad-agad na tayo na mag-isolate,” Vergeire said.
Vergeire also said that it’s best to get tested for COVID-19 in order to know if the person had been infected with SARS-CoV-2 or the virus that caused COVID-19.

Meanwhile, vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. on Saturday lauded medical frontliners and local government unit (LGU) officials for continuing the COVID-19 vaccination program even with the incessant rains caused by southwest monsoon (habagat) and enhanced by typhoon “Fabian”.
“Despite the inclement weather, our implementing units have remained resilient and are committed to inoculating more Filipinos. We are grateful to all frontliners in the government, and the private sector who continue to serve the public despite the many challenges we continue to face,” Galvez said in a statement.
Galvez added that the best way to stop and to limit the spread of the Delta COVID-19 variant, along with getting vaccinated against COVID-19, was diligently complying with minimum public health standards.
