KAREN DAVILA – The veteran broadcast journalist mourned the death of entertainment columnist Ricky Lo.
Lo passed away on Tuesday, May 4 at around 10 pm.
Among those who mourned his death are some of the well-known journalists such as Karen Davila and Ali Sotto.
According to Karen Davila, Ricky Lo’s death is “passing of an era” in showbiz reporting.
“Kind & soft spoken but would always get the scoop! He was always first. You either feared or loved him – depending how you ended up on his powerful column,” she said.
In Ali Sotto’s tweet, she shared her last message with Ricky Lo on April 21, the 75th birthday of the veteran showbiz editor.
Ricky Lo was known as the long-time entertainment editor of The Philippine Star, where he also had his daily column, starting in 1986.
Ricky became a host of showbiz talk shows on television as he was known for his showbiz scoops and exclusive interviews. For a time, Ricky co-hosted GMA-7’s “Startalk” and ABS-CBN’s “The Buzz.”
Aside from being a columnist and a television host, Ricky also published a book, “Conversations with Ricky Lo” in 2001.
Ricky Lo also interviewed theater actors and Hollywood A-list celebrities throughout his 50-plus-year career.
