Roque, who was criticized for having immediately secured a hospital room despite the shortage, said that his confinement was ordered by his doctors.

To recall, Roque had been confined at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) after testing positive for COVID-19. Netizens and critics of the administration then asked him how he immediately secured a room while other patients had to wait for hours or even days.

Such question, according to Harry Roque on Monday, was “un-Christian“.

Ako po ay pinapasok ng aking mga doktor [sa PGH] because the condition warranted admission,” Roque said when asked about his reason why he said it during his regular press briefing.

In a report on GMA News Online, Roque also said that he informed his doctors in PGH when he experienced COVID-19 symptoms last April 5 and tested positive for COVID-19 last April 6.

As per the report, this means he held his regular press briefing inside the New Executive Building in Malacañan Palace last April 5 (Monday), the day he already had COVID-19 symptoms, and again last April 6 (Tuesday), the day he had tested positive for COVID-19.
