A police officer passed away after being involved in a hit-and-run accident along the national highway in San Narciso, Zambales on Friday, March 19.
Based on the initial investigation of the authorities, the victim identified as Police Cpl. Rexie Manalo was traversing along Gov. Archimedes Villanueva Sr. National Highway in Brgy. Simminublan when he lost control of his motorcycle due to a slippery road.
His vehicle allegedly fell off and a mini-truck, following him, directly hit him which caused his sudden death.
But instead of stopping, the mini-truck fled from the crime scene.
In a statement, Police Senior Master Sgt. Marlon Bada of San Narciso police said: “Naramdaman niya ‘yon, pero hindi siya huminto.”
Meanwhile, the authorities are still trying to gather some of the footage taken by the closed-circuit television near the area where the accident happened.
They are hoping that this will help locate the driver of the mini-truck and eventually apprehend him.
