Globe Telecom would provide connectivity in remote areas in the Philippines.
Globe Telecom said that it was working with Curvalux in order to provide connectivity in remote areas in the Philippines by utilizing satellite broadband.
Curvalux was the company behind the CurvaNet satellite constellation project. CurvaNet would have 240 low earth orbit satellites in order to provide high-speed and affordable broadband worldwide.
According to Globe Telecom, the CurvaNet satellite constellation would be able to deliver affordable broadband internet to even remote areas beyond the reach of any infrastructure, telecom towers, or electricity.
“This technology enriches Globe’s internet solutions portfolio, allowing us to cover as many households as possible, and helps provide low-cost internet in hard-to-reach areas which are currently deprived of connectivity. We are very positive that Curvalux will help us answer the ever-growing demand for connectivity and wider coverage especially in areas where Globe is very much needed,” Darius Delgado, the head of Globe’s broadband business, said in an emailed statement.

Globe Telecom added that the said tech would use its proprietary low-cost, solar-powered customer terminal. On its website, it said that CurvaNet’s system was “low cost” and “self-installable”.
According to Globe Telecom, the said partnership would allow faster deployment of high-speed broadband to its customers with speeds ranging from 50 Mbps to 120 Mbps for download.
Globe Telecom would initially deploy the said tech in 39 areas in the Philippines. In addition, 315 more areas would follow within the year.
As a part of its ongoing network upgrade, Globe Telecom noted that it was also tapping the company’s broadband wireless technology apart from the CurvaNet satellite broadband.
