Knowledge Channel signed a memorandum of agreement with DepEd.
Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI) on Thursday signed a new memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Department of Education (DepEd).
The memorandum of agreement was signed by both parties as part of its continuing effort in order to improve the learning process for Filipino children. The memorandum of agreement was aimed to implement the memorandum of understanding that was inked by Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. and the Department of Education last April 2016.
Programs that were highlighted by the new agreement include:
- Basa Bilang
- PRIME or Program for Inclusive and Innovative Master Educations
- LEEP or Learning Effectively through Enhanced and Evidence-based Pedagogies
- a donation of KCFI’s educational videos to DepEd’s 5,000 senior high schools and 1,000 public schools in calamity and conflict areas
- EduKalidad sa Kalamidad
Rina Lopez Bautista, the president of KCFI, said that she congratulated DepEd “as it takes strides to improve the quality of education in the country.” She added that KCFI was “eager, excited, and hopeful” to reach, teach, and help DepEd improve learning outcomes among Filipino children.
On the part of DepEd, Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones said that Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. was “doing very, very important work,” adding that the challenge for the department was “to catch up with what is happening in knowledge.” Briones also said that students should be prepared to deal with the challenge to be able to differentiate between what was “probably alarmist analysis vis-à-vis critical thinking.”
