Award-winning comedian-actor Rowan Atkinson confessed that he “doesn’t enjoy much” playing Mr. Bean and is “ready” to retire the iconic character.
According to Rowan Atkinson, portraying the role of Mr. Bean is “stressful” and “exhausting.”
“The weight of responsibility is not pleasant. I find it stressful and exhausting, and I look forward to the end of it,” he said in an interview.
“It’s easier for me to perform the character vocally than visually,” he added.
The 66-year-old Johnny English star also said that the success of Mr. Bean has never surprised him.
“Watching an adult behaving in a childish way without being remotely aware of his inappropriateness is fundamentally funny. The fact the comedy is visual rather than verbal means it has been successful internationally too,” he noted.
At present, Rowan Atkinson is developing another animated movie for Mr. Bean.
Rowan made a name for himself globally after starring in the 15 episodes of Mr. Bean from 1990 to 1995.
It was then adapted into an animated series that premiered from 2002 to 2004 and 2015 to 2019 which now composed of 130 episodes.
In 1997 and 2007, Mr. Bean spawned two movies respectively; Bean and Mr. Bean’s Holiday.
