Bell’s Palsy did not stop Wency Cornejo from joining Masked Singer Pilipinas
Despite having a Bell’s Palsy, singer Wency Cornejo joined Masked Singer Pilipinas, the musical mystery singing competition of Viva Television and TV5.
It was in February 2020 when the singer was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy, a type of facial paralysis in which the muscle is not controlled in the affected part of the face.
According to the 53-year-old singer, he has difficulty pronouncing vowels and consonants due to his condition.
As a result, his concert with other OPM artists at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on April 3 did not continue at the same time due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Meanwhile, during his appearance on Masked Singer Pilipinas, he revealed his identity when he was eliminated.
According to Wency Cornejo, he has no plans to participate in the aforementioned singing competition because of his condition.
“Ako ang dapat magpasalamat sa inyo because you gave me the opportunity to be on the Masked Singer stage. Actually, I was very very emotional also during rehearsals because to be honest, I didn’t want to join because I have Bell’s Palsy,” he said.
“Ayoko talaga. I actually had a mask made to cover the left eye kaya lang nakalimutan kong isuot, so kakanta na lang ako ng final song ko na nakatakip yung left eye ko,” he added.
