Ateneo Graduate Honors Father Who Sold Cotton Candy to Fund Her Education
Ateneo de Manila University graduate Andriana Joy F. Nepacina has inspired many people online after honoring her father, Amorlito “Kuya Amor” Nepacina, a cotton candy vendor who worked hard for years to support their family and help her finish her education.
In a social media post, Andriana shared how her father spent years selling cotton candy on the streets of Antipolo and near the local seminary. Despite working under the heat of the sun, through heavy rains, and long hours of physical labor, he continued providing for their family without complaining about the difficulties of life.
According to Andriana, every bag of cotton candy her father sold represented more than just income. It helped put food on their table, funded her education, and gave her the opportunity to pursue her dreams. As she grew older, she came to understand the sacrifices her father made to ensure that she could have a better future.
Andriana said her father’s hard work, determination, and dedication motivated her to study harder and aim higher despite life’s challenges. She credited much of her success to the values and example he set throughout the years.
For her, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Legal Management and receiving a college scholarship award was not only a personal achievement. She believes her diploma also belongs to her father because it reflects the years of sacrifice, effort, and love he invested in their family.
She described her father as a true hero, saying that while many heroes are recognized for extraordinary acts, her father’s daily sacrifices and commitment to providing for his family were equally meaningful. Andriana also thanked Ateneo de Manila University and its scholarship program for helping her complete her education and move closer to her goal of giving her parents a better life.
Her story quickly gained attention online, inspiring many people and highlighting the important role parents play in helping their children achieve success.
