After Expulsion, Kiko Barzaga Considers Entering Showbiz
KIKO BARZAGA – The former Cavite 4th District representative revealed that one of the plans he is considering after his removal from the House of Representatives is entering the entertainment industry. Aside from focusing on business ventures and continuing his advocacy for animal welfare, particularly the protection and care of cats, Barzaga said he is open to exploring opportunities in showbiz if given the chance.
According to Barzaga, pursuing acting is not a lifelong dream but something he sees as a way to have fun and improve his communication and public-speaking skills. He admitted that he still feels uncomfortable and shy when facing large groups of reporters and cameras. He believes that gaining experience in acting could help him become more confident and effective when speaking in public and dealing with the media. He also joked about being open to having a love team partner, showing a lighthearted attitude toward the possibility of entering show business.
Barzaga’s comments came shortly after he was officially expelled from the House of Representatives on June 2, 2026. Lawmakers voted overwhelmingly in favor of removing him from office, with 265 voting for expulsion, 14 voting against it, and 8 abstaining. The decision followed a recommendation from the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges, which found that he had repeatedly violated the standards of conduct expected of members of Congress.
The case stemmed from a complaint filed by Janette Garin. The complaint involved social media posts made by Barzaga that allegedly linked Garin, her son, and Lorenz Defensor to the death of a vice mayor who died in an accidental firearm incident. These allegations became the basis of the ethics investigation that ultimately led to his removal from Congress.
Despite the outcome, Barzaga said he has no regrets about his actions. As he moves forward from his political career, he appears focused on new opportunities, including business, advocacy work, and a possible venture into the entertainment industry.
