NBI Says ‘Fugitive’ Bato dela Rosa Will Be Arrested Whether He Likes It or Not

NBI Says Bato dela Rosa Will Be Arrested Regardless of Resistance

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has announced that it will proceed with the arrest of Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa after receiving the go signal from the Department of Justice (DOJ) regarding an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant. Officials said the move will be carried out once all legal requirements are met and without delay.

The DOJ earlier confirmed that it has requested a Red Notice from Interpol for Dela Rosa, which would help law enforcement agencies in different countries locate and possibly detain him. With this development, DOJ officials described the senator as someone who may now be considered a fugitive under international legal procedures linked to the ICC case.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) also stated that it will follow whatever instructions are issued by the DOJ regarding the enforcement of the arrest warrant. Authorities emphasized that they will coordinate closely to ensure proper procedures are followed.

NBI Director Medardo de Lemos Matibag stressed that the agency will implement the order to arrest the senator without delay. He assured the public that the operation will be handled professionally and in accordance with the law, following standard law enforcement protocols.

He further stated that the arrest will be carried out regardless of resistance, stressing that legal orders must be enforced without fear or favoritism. According to him, the agency’s responsibility is to uphold the law and ensure compliance with court-issued directives.

Matibag also pointed out that the Supreme Court did not issue any temporary restraining order (TRO) that would stop the arrest. With no legal barrier in place, authorities said they are now authorized to proceed with the implementation of the ICC-related warrant.

As the situation develops, law enforcement agencies continue to coordinate closely to ensure that all actions remain within legal bounds while carrying out the directive from both local and international legal authorities.
