Ogie Diaz Calls Imee Marcos “Marites” Amid Sara Duterte Impeachment Issue

Ogie Diaz Reacts to Imee Marcos and Claire Castro Clash Online

OGIE DIAZ – The talent manager and host drew attention online after jokingly calling Senator Imee Marcos a “Marites,” a Filipino slang term often used for someone who spreads gossip or controversial information. Diaz reposted a social media content showing the heated exchange between Marcos and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro regarding the impeachment case involving Vice President Sara Duterte.

The issue started after Marcos released a video claiming that lawmakers who refuse to vote in favor of Duterte’s impeachment could allegedly face complaints from agencies such as the Ombudsman, the Department of Justice, and the Securities and Exchange Commission. The senator expressed concern over what she described as possible pressure, threats, and intimidation connected to the impeachment process. She questioned whether the situation was still fair and proper, saying it had become alarming for some lawmakers.

Castro later responded to the senator’s statements and criticized the claims for sounding more like rumors than verified information. She suggested that the statements appeared speculative and damaging, especially because they relied on unconfirmed reports. Her reaction quickly circulated online and became part of the growing political discussion surrounding the impeachment issue.

Reacting to the exchange, Ogie Diaz made a humorous comment on social media, saying it looked like his entertainment vlog, “Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update,” now had competition in the form of Senator Imee Marcos because of the senator’s controversial and highly talked-about remarks.

The online exchange happened shortly after the House of Representatives approved the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte. A total of 255 lawmakers voted in favor of the committee report supporting the impeachment, while 26 voted against it and nine abstained.
