Jonvic Remulla May Be Replaced by Trillanes at DILG
Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is reportedly being considered as a possible replacement for Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla, according to Atty. Jesus Falcis during an interview on “Politiko Nightly” of Bilyonaryo News Channel.
Falcis raised concerns about Remulla’s performance, saying that there seems to be a lack of significant accomplishments under his leadership. He mentioned that while some actions were taken, such as the dismissal of certain Bureau of Fire Protection personnel and investigations into alleged corruption involving fire extinguishers, these were not enough to show strong overall leadership in the department.
“Si Sec. Jonvic Remulla, with all due respect, e parang wala namang nade-deliver o naa-accomplish,” he said.

He further explained that the Department of the Interior and Local Government plays a major role in enforcing law and order, including coordination for high-profile arrests and other important national security operations. However, he claimed that the current leadership has not been delivering strong results in these key responsibilities.
Because of this, he said there is growing discussion about the need for a more effective DILG secretary who can better handle enforcement duties and ensure stronger implementation of government actions. He added that the department should be more active in handling important cases and ensuring that law enforcement efforts are properly carried out.

Falcis also pointed out that several high-profile figures are expected to be subjects of government action, and he believes the DILG should be more effective in supporting these efforts. He suggested that the perceived lack of results and visible outcomes under the current leadership may be reasons why discussions about a possible replacement are emerging.
According to him, this situation has led to talks that Trillanes could be appointed to the position as early as this week, although no official confirmation has been made.
