Former Cop Behind Series of Alfamart Robberies Surrenders to Authorities

Ex-Cop Linked to Alfamart Robbery Now in Police Custody

A former police officer who is allegedly the leader of a group involved in a series of robberies targeting Alfamart convenience stores in the Calabarzon region has voluntarily surrendered to authorities after days of coordinated police tracking and follow-up operations.

Based on the report of the Calamba City Police Station, the suspect, identified only as alias “Randolph,” 41 years old and a former member of the Philippine National Police, surrendered along with his alleged accomplice, alias “Phobet,” 29 years old. Their surrender came after authorities intensified efforts to locate those responsible for a string of recent hold-ups in the area.

Investigators said the two suspects were allegedly involved in consecutive robberies at two Alfamart branches in San Juan, Batangas—specifically in Laiya Aplaya and Nagsaulay. The incidents reportedly happened on April 15, between 7:35 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., just minutes apart, suggesting that the operations were planned and carried out in a coordinated manner.

The following morning, around 6:10 a.m., police units conducted a follow-up operation. Through close coordination between the San Juan Municipal Police Station and the Calamba City Police Station, authorities were able to track down the suspects. This eventually led to their voluntary surrender without further resistance.

Authorities confirmed that both individuals are now under police custody. The necessary documents are currently being prepared for the filing of criminal charges before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Batangas City. Officials emphasized that the case is being built based on gathered evidence and witness accounts.

Meanwhile, police said the investigation is still ongoing to identify other possible members of the group. Authorities believe the suspects may be part of a wider network involved in similar robberies across multiple provinces, including Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, and Quezon.

Law enforcement agencies continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities in their communities to help prevent further incidents and support ongoing operations against organized crime groups.
