Gloria Macapagal Arroyo Rejects Rumors of a Move to Replace House Speaker Bojie Dy
GLORIA MACAPAGAL ARROYO – The former President and current Pampanga Representative has denied reports claiming that she planned to replace House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III in the leadership of the House of Representatives.
Arroyo strongly rejected the allegations, saying there is no truth to claims that she was involved in any effort to remove Dy from his position. She also expressed full confidence in his leadership and stated that she continues to support his role as Speaker of the House. She added that her long-standing relationship of support with Dy and his late father remains unchanged and continues to be strong.
Reports had earlier circulated suggesting that some political figures allegedly linked to Vice President Sara Duterte held discussions about replacing Dy as Speaker and possibly installing Arroyo in his place. These claims were also connected to speculation that such a move could influence ongoing political tensions in Congress, particularly the impeachment proceedings involving Duterte.

At present, the House Committee on Justice is conducting hearings to determine whether the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte have sufficient grounds to be elevated to the Senate for a formal trial. This process has added to the political discussions surrounding leadership stability in the House.
Arroyo, who previously served as Speaker of the House from 2018 to 2019, emphasized that she has no involvement in any leadership change efforts and remains supportive of the current House leadership. She has been serving as Representative of Pampanga’s 2nd District since 2010, with a brief break before returning in 2022.

Speaker Dy has been in office for about seven months, taking over after the resignation of former Speaker Martin Romualdez, who stepped down following issues linked to a flood control controversy.
