Alvin Aragon Urges Network to Remove the “King of Talk”
ALVIN ARAGON – The controversial personality publicly called for the removal of a well-known talk show host, widely believed by many netizens to be Boy Abunda, also known as the “King of Talk.”
In a Facebook post on March 23, Aragon addressed a network executive, believed to be Annette Gozon-Valdes, asking her to take the show off the air. He claimed that the program promotes ideas that make LGBTQIA+ identities seem acceptable, which goes against his religious beliefs. He also said that this kind of content could influence Filipino viewers, especially parents.
Aragon shared his concern that presenting LGBTQIA+ identities as normal may affect how people think and may go against what he believes are religious teachings. He stressed that these messages should not be spread through television and media. His statements quickly gained attention online, especially since he and his wife, Izzy Trazona, had previously appeared on Abunda’s show.
In response, Abunda spoke about the issue and said he respects Aragon’s personal beliefs. However, he explained that no one should force their beliefs or parenting style on others. He said that while faith should be respected, people should also respect families who choose to love and accept their LGBTQIA+ children. He added that judging these parents can be painful, as many of them act out of love and care.
Abunda also said that public figures should not be used to criticize parents who choose acceptance. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, he shared his belief in a kind and understanding God who values love above all. He explained that, in the end, what matters most is how people love and treat others.
Even though he disagrees with Aragon, Abunda said he is open to conversation. Still, he remains firm in his belief that respect, kindness, and acceptance should come first.
