Barbie Forteza Shares What She Learned from Kara Mia
BARBIE FORTEZA – The actress shared her thoughts on her acting career, admitting that while she has a few regrets, she is still thankful for the opportunities that helped her grow.
On the March 12, 2026 episode of the YouTube podcast Ang Walang Kwentang Channel, Barbie joined veteran actresses Cherry Pie Picache and Jodi Sta. Maria to discuss their experiences as actors from different generations.
When asked about projects that didn’t fully work in their favor but taught them valuable lessons, Barbie mentioned the fantasy series Kara Mia. The show, which aired on GMA Network in 2019, starred Barbie and Mika Dela Cruz as siblings sharing one body but with two separate faces—Kara at the front and Mia at the back. Barbie said some viewers might have found her character unusual at times, but she always did her best to make her performance believable. She also joked that the series helped pay her bills.

“May eksena ho kami, nasa footbridge kami. Nag-aaway kami, e, iisa lang po yung katawan. So ako, ako yung katawan, atras-abante akong ganyan. So to answer your question, sa bata kong ito, marami na po akong pinagsisisihan. But again, it paid the bills,” she shared.
Barbie added that Kara Mia taught her about using her body and movement in acting, requiring her to think of two minds in one body. She emphasized that patience and focus were important, especially for technical shots involving her character’s back. While she feels some parts of the show didn’t fully showcase her abilities, she values what she learned and continues to apply those lessons in her current projects.

The discussion highlighted that even challenging or unconventional roles can provide valuable learning experiences. For Barbie, Kara Mia was a step forward in her career, offering both practical benefits and lessons in dedication, discipline, and acting skills.
