Ex-Power Rangers Stuntman Arrested for 40+ Burglaries Using “Superhero Skills”

Ex-Power Rangers Stuntman in Japan Allegedly Uses Stunt Skills to Break Into Homes

A former stunt performer in Japan, who previously worked on productions inspired by Super Sentai—the series that led to Power Rangers—was arrested for allegedly committing multiple burglaries. The suspect, identified as Yasutomo Ihara, was apprehended in Saitama Prefecture in connection with several break-ins at residential homes, according to Japanese media reports.

Authorities believe Ihara was involved in more than 40 burglary cases, with the total value of stolen items estimated at around 8.2 million yen. The incidents reportedly occurred mostly at night, with the suspect entering homes through second-floor windows or unlocked doors. Remarkably, many of the targeted houses showed little to no damage, suggesting careful and skilled entry.

Investigators suspect that Ihara may have used his training and experience as a stunt performer to aid in these crimes. Skills such as climbing, balance, agility, and precision—which are essential in stunt work—could have helped him gain access to homes without leaving a trace. Reports indicate that Ihara worked on several Japanese tokusatsu projects, including productions related to Super Sentai and Kamen Rider.

The case has drawn public attention because of his connection to popular superhero shows, although reports clarified that Ihara was never a main actor in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Meanwhile, Power Rangers is a popular American TV series about a team of young heroes who gain superpowers to fight evil forces threatening Earth. Each Ranger wears a color-coded suit and helmet, pilots giant robots called Zords, and combines them into a larger robot known as a Megazord. The show features action-packed battles, teamwork, and moral lessons about courage, friendship, and responsibility. Power Rangers is adapted from the Japanese Super Sentai series, using original Japanese action footage combined with American actors and storylines. Since its debut in 1993, it has spawned multiple seasons, movies, toys, and a lasting global fan base.
