Atty. Topacio Defends Bong Suntay

Atty. Topacio Backs Bong Suntay

FERDINAND TOPACIO – The lawyer defended Bong Suntay following his controversial remarks about actress and TV host Anne Curtis during a congressional hearing related to the impeachment complaint against Sara Duterte on March 3, 2026.

Suntay had shared that while at a hotel, he noticed Anne Curtis and felt a strong attraction toward her. He admitted imagining certain situations in his mind but insisted that these thoughts were purely imaginary. His statement quickly drew criticism from the public and members of the entertainment community, including Anne’s family.

On his radio program, “Yes… Yes… Yo! Topacio,” on March 5, 2026, Topacio described Suntay’s comments as minor and suggested that the public’s focus on his remark was influenced by a desire to see Vice President Sara Duterte impeached. According to Topacio, Suntay’s statements were not criminal, as thoughts alone—even those involving desire, lust, or imagining inappropriate acts—do not constitute a legal offense. He emphasized that imagining or thinking about acts like kissing, touching, or sexual advances is not a crime.

“Very minor ‘yong sinabi ni Suntay.

Topacio also criticized Anne Curtis’s sister, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, for her reaction to Suntay’s remarks, suggesting that celebrities who post revealing photos online invite attention. He questioned why public figures like Jasmine would post bikini pictures if not to be noticed, arguing that such actions contradict claims of being offended.

As of press time, neither Anne Curtis nor her sister Jasmine Curtis-Smith have released any official statements or responses regarding Topacio’s defense of Suntay.
