Viva Artists Agency Denounces Inappropriate Remarks About Anne Curtis
Viva Artists Agency criticized the remarks that mentioned Anne Curtis during a congressional hearing, calling them offensive and inappropriate. The agency said it was disappointing that comments like these still occur today and reminded everyone that respect should always be shown, especially in public discussions.
The issue began when Jesus Manuel “Bong” Suntay mentioned Curtis during a hearing of the House Committee on Justice regarding the impeachment complaint against Sara Duterte. Suntay said he was trying to explain a point by comparing it to a controversial statement Duterte once made about imagining harm against Ferdinand Marcos Jr. While making the comparison, he described an imagined situation involving the actress and spoke about having personal desires for her.
In response, Viva Artists Agency said it was wrong to use Curtis’ name in a discussion that had nothing to do with her, whether as a private citizen or a public figure. The agency explained that, regardless of the intention, bringing her into the conversation in that way was disrespectful.

It also emphasized that comments that show or encourage disrespect toward women should never be tolerated anywhere, including in government hearings. According to the agency, statements like these can weaken the progress many have worked hard to achieve in promoting respect and equal treatment for women.

The management also thanked the public, including fans and fellow artists, who showed support for Curtis after the incident. Meanwhile, several members of the House of Representatives have called for an ethics investigation into Suntay’s remarks. Ann Matibag criticized the comments, describing them as inappropriate and offensive, and requested that the matter be reviewed by the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges.

Suntay later apologized to those who felt offended by his statement. He explained that he was only describing an imagined situation and said he did not intend to harm or disrespect Curtis.
