Jasmine Curtis-Smith Slams Congressman Over Remarks About Her Sister Anne Curtis

Jasmine Curtis-Smith Calls Out Lawmaker’s Comment on Her Sister

JASMINE CURTIS-SMITH – The actress openly expressed her anger following the controversial remarks made by Bong Suntay about her sister, Anne Curtis.

The incident happened during a House Committee on Justice hearing related to the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte. While discussing the issue, Suntay shared a personal story about seeing Anne at a hotel and described her as very beautiful. He admitted that he imagined certain possibilities but clarified that those thoughts remained only in his mind.

His remarks were immediately criticized by several lawmakers, who said they were unrelated to the topic being discussed. Some members of the committee moved to have his statement removed from the official records. Ysabel Maria Zamora pointed out that it was the beginning of National Women’s Month and said such comments were inappropriate, especially coming from an elected official. Other lawmakers supported her view.

In a television interview, Suntay explained that his statement was neither sexual nor immoral. He said he was simply expressing admiration and believed there was nothing wrong with calling someone beautiful. According to him, his comment should be taken as a compliment.

The issue quickly spread online. Journalist Karen Davila criticized Suntay on social media, stressing that a public servant should show respect and awareness when speaking about women. She said that removing the comment from the record was not enough and that an apology would have been more appropriate, especially during Women’s Month.

While Anne Curtis and her husband, Erwan Heussaff, have not released any statement, Jasmine was vocal about her frustration. She posted several messages online questioning Suntay’s way of thinking and called his remarks disgusting. She also shared posts from netizens suggesting possible legal or ethics complaints under laws that protect women from harassment in public and online spaces. Jasmine later admitted that her anger kept her from sleeping. As of now, Suntay has not responded to Jasmine’s reaction.
