Edu Manzano Calls Out Dishonesty in a Golf Event Tied to Political Families
EDU MANZANO – The actor expressed disappointment over alleged cheating that happened during a golf tournament, pointing out that some of the people involved were from well-known political families.
In a Facebook post that served as a blind item, he chose not to directly name anyone but shared his concern about the deeper meaning behind the incident. He explained that the situation was not really about golf but about character and integrity.
According to him, the tournament was a small club event with no major prizes, no large audience, and only a simple honor system where players recorded their own scores. Despite the low stakes, cheating still happened, which, in his view, reflected a deeper personal habit rather than pressure or competition. He stressed that golf is a self-regulated sport where honesty depends on one’s conscience, and when people still choose to be dishonest even in a simple game, it raises questions about how they might behave when real power, responsibility, and money are involved.

He also shared that corruption does not exist only in large scandals but can grow from small dishonest acts that people often ignore or excuse because they seem unimportant. For him, actions like these are practice for bigger decisions in life, and dishonesty in small matters can reflect how someone might act when the stakes are higher.

Because he did not initially mention names, many people became curious about who he was referring to. About an hour later, he shared a news link reporting that the top two winning teams in the Mango Tee 38 Member-Guest tournament at Alabang Country Club had been disqualified. A board resolution that later circulated online confirmed that the awards given to the two teams were withdrawn after an investigation found their submitted scores to be highly unusual and statistically unlikely. The players were also asked to return their trophies.
The individuals identified were Ronin Leviste, a former vice mayor of Lian, Batangas, and the son of former Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste, along with his partner Darren Flores, and Camarines Sur Governor Luis Raymund Villafuerte with his partner Edward Francisco.
