4Ps Beneficiaries Could Receive Higher Monthly Support, House Committee Says

House of Representatives Pushes for Higher Monthly Aid for 4Ps Beneficiaries

The House of Representatives is pushing for higher monthly assistance for beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), aiming to strengthen support for education, health, and nutrition among low-income families.

House Majority Leader Alexander “Sandro” Marcos said that the House Committee on Appropriations is actively working to pass a measure that would increase aid, highlighting the government’s goal to improve social protection for underprivileged Filipinos.

The proposal, which consolidates several bills intended to amend the 4Ps Act, has already been approved by the House Committee on Poverty Alleviation. Under the plan, monthly educational grants for children in the program would rise significantly. Assistance for daycare and elementary students would increase from 300 pesos to 500 pesos, for junior high school students from 500 pesos to 700 pesos, and for senior high school students from 700 pesos to 900 pesos.

Health support would also see a major boost, with the monthly health grant rising from 750 pesos to 1,800 pesos. Additionally, children with disabilities would receive an extra 400 pesos per month to help cover their medical needs. These proposed increases aim to provide families with the resources they need to ensure that children stay in school, receive proper healthcare, and enjoy better nutrition.

Meanwhile, the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, or 4Ps, is the Philippine government’s conditional cash transfer program designed to support poor families. It provides financial assistance to eligible households on the condition that they meet certain requirements, such as sending children to school, attending regular health checkups, and participating in nutrition and parenting programs. The program seeks to break the cycle of poverty by investing in the education, health, and overall well-being of children, empowering families to improve their living conditions and build a better future.
