Her death was confirmed by her son, Joaquin “JJ” Barretto, through a social media post in which he shared a candle image as his profile photo to quietly express grief and remembrance.
In the days leading up to her passing, Inday had been confined to the hospital, and her condition was reported to be critical. Based on Joaquin’s earlier updates, she had been under close medical care for some time, with her health steadily declining. On January 28, a day before her death, Joaquin shared a photo taken at the Intensive Care Unit of St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig. In the image, Inday’s face was blurred for privacy, while Joaquin and her youngest daughter, Claudine, were seen by her side, showing the family’s presence and support during her final moments.
Throughout January 2026, Joaquin regularly posted brief updates indicating that his mother remained ill and hospitalized. On January 27, he revealed that her condition had worsened and that she needed to be transferred to the ICU, signaling the seriousness of her situation.
