Ogie Diaz Says He Still Trusts Sonny Trillanes Despite Criticism

Ogie Diaz Shows Support for Sonny Trillanes

OGIE DIAZ — The showbiz insider expressed his support for former Senator Sonny Trillanes after an old statement questioning Trillanes’ credibility resurfaced online.

In a Facebook post on January 23, Ogie shared a graphic featuring a comment from former Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission chair Greco Belgica, who had previously raised doubts about whether people still trusted Trillanes. Belgica originally posted this in October 2025, around the time Trillanes filed plunder cases against Senator Bong Go, former President Rodrigo Duterte, and others. The post began circulating again just days after Trillanes filed new graft and plunder complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte. “Sa totoo lang, naniniwala pa ba ang tao kay Trillanes?” Belgica asked.

Ogie responded by saying he still believes in Trillanes and finds him more trustworthy than Belgica. He pointed out that even though Trillanes no longer holds a government position, he continues to speak up and take action on important issues. For Ogie, this demonstrates that Trillanes remains influential and committed to pushing for accountability.

“Oo naman. Mas credible kesa kay Belgica,” Ogie replied. “Walang posisyon si Antonio ‘Sonny’ Trillanes IV, pero powerful. Ang dami pang nagagawa. #Partida,” he added.

Ogie is known for being open about his political views and previously supported Leni Robredo and Kiko Pangilinan during the 2022 elections. Belgica, on the other hand, is a strong supporter of former President Rodrigo Duterte and once served as head of the anti-corruption commission during his administration. Their differing political backgrounds help explain their opposing views.

Meanwhile, Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV is a politician and former Navy officer. He first gained national attention as a leader of the 2003 and 2007 mutinies against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, which made him a controversial figure. Later, he was elected as a Senator in 2007 and served until 2019. During his time in the Senate, he was known for being a vocal critic of corruption and government misconduct. He ran unsuccessfully for vice president in 2010.
