Bong Revilla Surrenders Over Alleged Ghost Project

Bong Revilla Surrenders Following Sandiganbayan Order

BONG REVILLA — The former senator voluntarily surrendered on Monday night, January 19, 2026, after the Sandiganbayan issued a warrant of arrest and a hold departure order against him in connection with a non-bailable malversation case involving an alleged irregular flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.

Before turning himself in, Revilla released a video statement on his Facebook account, saying he had been informed that a warrant had already been issued. He expressed sadness and concern, saying it felt as though proper legal process had not been fully observed. However, he assured the public that he would face the case bravely and with faith, believing that he had done nothing wrong. He asked for prayers for strength, especially for his family, admitting that the situation was emotionally painful for them, and he thanked everyone who continued to support him.

Revilla arrived at Camp Crame around 10 p.m., accompanied by Acting Philippine National Police Chief Lt. Gen. Melencio Nartatez Jr., his wife, Cavite Second District Representative Lani Revilla, and their children. The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group served the warrant and completed the booking procedures.

The Sandiganbayan also ordered the arrest of six officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways in Bulacan, including Engineers Bryce Hernandez and JP Mendoza. The court ruled that the case carries no bail, meaning the accused must remain in custody while the trial is ongoing and are not allowed to leave the country.

Earlier, on January 16, 2026, the Office of the Ombudsman filed graft and malversation charges after finding probable cause that the accused allegedly worked together to release about ₱76 million for a flood control project that was reported as completed but was later proven to have never been built. Investigators also found signs that project reports, billing papers, and payment documents were falsified.

Revilla had earlier denied the accusations, including claims that he received large kickbacks from flood control funds in 2024 and additional money before the 2025 elections. Despite the serious allegations, Revilla continues to maintain his innocence and says he will face the case with courage and trust in justice.
