Freddie Mercury’s Alleged Secret Daughter Dies at 48 from Rare Cancer

Alleged Secret Daughter of Freddie Mercury Passes Away

FREDDIE MERCURY — The alleged secret daughter of the legendary Queen frontman, publicly known as “Bibi,” has passed away at the age of 48 after battling chordoma, a rare and aggressive form of spinal cancer. Her husband, Thomas, confirmed the news to a British media outlet, sharing that Bibi’s remains were laid to rest in a private and meaningful ceremony. She is survived by their two young sons, aged nine and seven, who now face life without their mother.

Bibi’s existence became known to the public in May 2025 through a biographical book written by Lesley-Ann Jones, which explored previously hidden aspects of Mercury’s personal life. According to the book, Bibi was born from a brief relationship Freddie had in 1976 with the wife of a close friend. Mercury, who lived from 1946 to 1991 and is widely considered one of the greatest rock vocalists in history, reportedly acknowledged Bibi as his daughter but chose to keep her identity private to protect her from public attention. This part of his life was not included in the popular 2018 film Bohemian Rhapsody.

Jones shared that she became close to Bibi while working on the book over a four-year period. Bibi reached out after reading one of Jones’ earlier works, believing it portrayed the real Freddie more accurately than previous accounts, although she felt there were still important truths that needed to be told. Bibi had struggled with cancer since she was young, and her family often relocated to access better treatment. After several years of remission, the illness returned, which later led her to cooperate in sharing her story.

In the book, Bibi’s real name was kept confidential. She lived a quiet life in France as a doctor, focusing on her family. It is also believed that Mercury dedicated songs such as “Bijou (Jewel)” and “Don’t Try So Hard” to her. Bibi once expressed that she chose privacy for decades because she wanted to grieve her father personally and build her life without public pressure or constant judgment of his legacy. Her family is now considering releasing photos that show her close relationship with Mercury, honoring a bond that remained strong until his passing.
